240 Take Part in Cynffig Futsal

A very successful 5 x 60 Interschool Futsal Tournament took place over two weeks at Cynffig Comprehensive, where just over 240 year 7 and 8 pupils took part.

All the pupils thoroughly enjoyed the experience, as only a few of those who took part had heard of Futsal. Meaning this was a new and exciting experience for all. The matches that took place were a success and positive feedback from all. As a result of its success a Futsal League has been set up within the school with 11 team’s and over 70 players regularly playing one another in weekly fixtures. Hopefully this is just the start of Futsal within the community and look to take it to the next level.

Ynysawdre swimming pool have provided the school with the dance studio with all available time at the fitness centre. This has helped the school greatly as they have been able to hold some classes at the dance studio. All pupils have benefited especially those studying for GCSE and ‘A’ level who need the practise for their moderations.

Youngsters given chance to shine in Paralympic sports

Youngsters dreaming of competing for Britain at a future Paralympic Games have been given the chance to demonstrate their sporting abilities - in the hope of being talent-spotted for a future in sport.

Phil Lane, ParalympicsGB’s Chief Executive said, “By increasing the number of young people involved in disability sport, we can also increase the pool of potential talent, from which we will select the future British Paralympic teams".
