Details: Brackla RFC was started in the late 80’s and enjoyed competitive local rugby. Sadly the club disbanded and after some years without a team a few locals have taken it upon themselves to restart Brackla R F C. Success so far has not come in the shape of wins or trophies but by the number of individuals who represent the team each week, in turn having a club that they call they’re own. The club plans to establish itself as a recognised contender in the district league and continue to increase the number of squad members available. Details: The rugby club was established over 100 years ago and now has a thriving junior section, a football team, a cricket team and several club teams. We are proud that we run what is at present the only girls team in the borough. The club has won several league titles, many sevens tournaments and the junior Ospreys cup. We have an excellent relationship with local schools and youth clubs and are proud to be at the centre of the community in Nantyffyllon. Details: Nantymoel R F C has been in existence since 1885. In the recent past the club has endeavoured to involve age groups from the community from 8 years of age through to senior rugby. Details: A club founded pre Second World War and resumed playing in 1945. The clubhouse was built and opened in 1967 by Councillor Mostyn Jones the club now owns it’s own playing area. Following a period of success when the club was semi-professional we now play in Division 4 of the national leagues. Previous winners of the Silver Ball the club plan to have a mini and junior section and two senior teams within the next few years.

Details: A club that is over a century old the new clubhouse has disabled facilities and kitchen and all our ranges have disabled access. Our members have competed at National, International and at the Commonwealth Games as well as contributing members to the GB Paralympic Squad. We aim to further increase the number of disabled people able to use the range and enalble us to offer this Olympic recognised sport to all. We have been approached by both the Australian and New Zealand Paralympics squads who wish to use our range as a training base during the 2012 games. The club is CASC approved.

Details: The club was formed in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s and has 2 squash courts with changing facilities for male and female users. We have had many players who have been successful and are still playing locally. One senior member has represented Wales at over 55 age group and we have 3 current members part of the Welsh under 11 development squad. The club has recently launched it’s junior section and will focus on strengthening and growing this area and the formation of a ladies section over the next few years.

Details: The club was founded several years ago it provides lifeguard cover, first aid and general advice for users of Sker Beach. The club is always looking to recruit new members to train as lifeguards and there is a sport division for those wishing to compete. The club has enjoyed a successful few years with a new lifeguard station being donated by Kenfig Corporation Trust. The club will continue to recruit new members and provide this much needed service.

Details: The club originally as Tonyrefail Lifeguard Club later becoming Rest Bay and Tonyrefail. In 1990 the club decided on the name Rest Bay Lifeguard and the ambition to have a first class lifeguard station at Rest Bay. After a successful fund raising campaign this was achieved in 1997 and the club membership has grown to over 200 members. The club aims to provide users of Rest Bay with an exemplarily lifeguard service by providing our members with the best training and equipment possible.

It is over 35 years old

Details: The club has been running since 1927, the oldest club in the South Wales valleys and are open to all ages. We run a male and female summer team and a mixed and mens team in the winter league structure. We currently offer free coaching for all age groups. Garw Valley Tennis Club is the only club in the borough that is open to the public for tennis and provides coaching.

The chief intention is to have the mens 1st team playing in as high a division as possible and to raise the overall standard of tennis at the club particularly at grass roots level. We also endeavour to get as many people as possible to enjoy the game. Bridgend Tennis Club are continually trying to increase awareness off the club as it is in our opinion a safe environment for children to be exposed to other sports such as squash, rugby, athletics and bowls.

Details: The club was formed in 2009 and is an open club with any person welcome to join. We currently have over 40 members and focus mainly on hill, mountain and coastal walking within the UK. Details: Formed over 35 years ago the club is one of Wales’ most successful board riders club. The club was originally known as 'CREST' which was an anagram of the local surf spots consisting of Coney, Rest, Esp, Sker and Trecco. The club has produced several Welsh inter club champions with the last victory coming in 2004. Details: Over the last 5 years Bridgend achieved Football Association of Wales status as an academy after completing the full accreditation scheme run by the F.A.W. The last 2 years have seen Bridgend move away from the umbrella but still continues to run as and academy. Bridgend won the Welsh schools national under 15 competition in 2008 for the first time in their history. The club has had numerous players from the Bridgend area sign schoolboy forms with professional clubs. The academy aims to maintain a professional standard from its coaches, players, facilities and all round organisation. The academy will develop links with the Bridgend Football League and continue to benefit local players to give them an opportunity to progress with their football career.

The club endeavours to work in partnership with other groups and give young people the opportunity to participate in events that would be inaccessible if they were not club members. The club strives to create a safe environment for members and visitors which will in turn foster community minded citizens. We have enjoyed success all over the world with Commonwealth, British and European champions. We have 2 members on the pathway for the 2012 Olympics.
